- Magdalena Van Otterloo, 92, of Hull, IA, formerly of Rock Valley, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Sioux Center Community Hospital.
Funeral services was 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23 at First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery. Rev. John Engbers officiated.
Magdalena was born June 10, 1911, at Matlock, IA, daughter of Bastian and Jennie (Critters) Nobel.
She married Peter Van Otterloo on February 19, 1937, at Hull, IA. Together they farmed near Rock Valley and later south of Rock Rapids, IA, before retiring to Rock Valley in 1969. Peter died on April 3, 1978.
Magdalena moved to the Valley Manor in 1980 and to Pleasant Acres Care Center at Hull in 1996.
Survivors include 4 sons and their wives: Harvey and Joanne of Rock Valley, Art and Margaret of Hull, Berwyn and Luretta of Rock Rapids, IA, Dennis and Nelva of Edgerton, MN; 3 daughters, Jeanette and her husband Harlan Van Engen of Doon, IA, Viola Van Otterloo of Denver, CO, Laurie and her husband Vernon Koedam of Alvord, IA; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Rose Van Otterloo of Hull; brother-in-law and his wife Leonard and Bernice Van Otterloo of Sioux Center; sister-in-laws Nellie Nobel, Tena Van Otterloo both of Rock Valley; Joyce Van Otterloo of Hull.
Magdalena was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; 2 brothers, Henry and John Nobel; sister Delia Van Otterloo; greatgrandchild, Emily De Witt.
