PEARL SMITH was born to Marinus and Adrianna (Buitendyk) Overgaauw on July 5, 1920 in Zuidland, Netherlands. When she was nine months old, she came to the United States with her parents to Rock Rapids, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Leota, Minnesota where she attended Leota Christian School. At the age of 11, she moved with her parents to a farm near Woodstock, Minnesota, and she continued her education at the country school in District 49. While waiting for Jake to return from the service during World War II, Pearl worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan for three years. On February 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jake Smith in Holland, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they farmed for many years north of Pipestone, Minnesota where Pearl raised their children and helped on the farm. After their retirement in 1979, they continued to live on the farm until 1987 when they moved into Pipestone. Jake preceded her in death on September 8, 1996. In February, 2004, Pearl moved to Ridgeview Estates in Pipestone; and in March, 2013, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan communities of Pipestone. She died there on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 29 days.

Pearl was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Before she moved to Pipestone, she was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church. She read her Bible and prayed daily, and she enjoyed attending Bible studies. She spent many hours sewing, embroidering and baking. Each summer she raised big vegetable gardens and canned the produce she raised. Her joy was to be with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her seven children, Jim (Sharla) Smith of Milroy, Minnesota, Adrian (Linda) Smith of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Marlene (Mark) Wagner of Glenwood, Minnesota, Ken (Vickie) Smith of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Muriel (Mike) Pater of Marshall, Minnesota, Phil (Jane) Smith of Pella, Iowa, and Marcia(Paul) Cates of Ida Grove, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four brothers, John (Carol) Overgaauw of Mercedes, Texas, Case (Joan) Overgaauw of Lakeland, California, Pete (Marge) Overgaauw of Kent, Washington, and Adrian (JoAnn) Overgaauw of St. Paul, Minnesota; and three sisters,Wilmenia (Gilbert) Kuiper of Pipestone, Minnesota, Cornelia Zeinstra of Holland, Minnesota, and Jacoba Boersma of Pipestone, Minnesota. WILHELMINA KUYPER was born to Marinus and Adriana (Buitendyk) Overgaauw on October 14, 1925 on a farm near Leota, Minnesota. When she was a small child, she moved with her parents to a farm by Woodstock, Minnesota where she was raised and attended country school. Upon completion of her education, she helped at home and on the family farm. On January 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Kuyper at the Christian Reformed Church in Holland, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Holland, Minnesota. In 1968, they purchased a farm north of Woodstock, Minnesota. During this time, Willie stayed at home to raise their children and to help with the farm work. In 1991, they built a new home in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s disease in 2006. On August 1, 2011, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she lived until her death on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the age of 89 years, six months and 13 days.

While living in the Holland-Woodstock area, she and her husband were members of the Christian Reformed Church in Holland. When they moved to Pipestone, they became members of the Christian Reformed Church there. She was an active church member, being involved in the Girls Society as a young person, and then the Ladies Aid after she was married. She enjoyed traveling, and she and her husband spent time each winter in Arizona while her daughter lived there. She was an excellent cook and an immaculate housekeeper. Willie was a gentle soul and always had a smile for everyone. She will be remembered for her famous Mounds bars, the way she poured coffee and her signature double wave goodbye.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Gilbert Kuyper of Pipestone, Minnesota; three children, Gloria Fischer and her husband Dan of Wadena, Minnesota, Marlyn Kuyper and his wife Pam of Holland, Minnesota, and Myron Kuyper and his wife Laurie of Cottonwood, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Case Overgaauw and his wife Joan of Bellflower, California and Peter Overgaauw and his wife Marjory of Kent, Washington; and two sisters, Cornelia Zeinstra of Pipestone, Minnesota and Jacoba Boersma of Pipestone, Minnesota; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Overgaauw of Mercedes, Texas and Johanna Overgaauw of Ontario, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-granddaughter, Heather Williams; five brothers, Jake, Frank, Willis, John and Adrian Overgaauw; and one sister Pearl Smith.

CORNELIA ZEINSTRA...

was born to Marinus and Adrianna (Buitendyk) Overgaauw on January 30, 1927 on a farm near Leota, Minnesota. When she was four years old, she moved with her parents to a farm near Woodstock, Minnesota where she was raised. She attended school in District #49. Upon completion of her education, she helped on the family farm. On June 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Felix Zeinstra at the Christian Reformed Church in Holland. Following their marriage, they lived on the farm. One year later, they moved into Holland. While raising their family, Cornelia helped at Ann’s Café in Holland on Friday evenings. Felix preceded her in death on April 23, 1997. After his death, she continued to live in Holland. In December of 2013 she moved into Falls Landing in Pipestone. On September 16, 2015 she entered into the Prairie View Healthcare Center and passed away there on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the age of 88 years, eight months, and 17 days.

Cornelia was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Holland where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Holland American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed taking the bus trips offered by the Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed visiting her brothers in California and playing cards at the Senior Center in Holland. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren throughout her many years.

She is lovingly remembered by two granddaughters, Malissa Bentley of Tracy, Minnesota, and Rebecca Schulze of Tracy, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren, Andria, Ashlyn, Kally, Daine and Braylen; three great-great-grandchildren, Lucian, Kylee, and Larz; two brothers, Casey (Joan) Overgaauw of Bellflower, California, and Peter (Margie) Overgaauw of Kent, Washington; and one sister, Jacoba Boersma of Pipestone, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Randy and Al; her husband, Felix; her parents; five brothers, Frank, Jake, John, Willis and Adrien Overgaauw; three sisters, Jacoba Overgaauw, Pearl Smith and Wilhelmina Kuiper; and one infant sister, Cornelia.

John was the loving husband of 65 years to his forever sweetheart "Carol." He was "Number 1" dad to: Retha (Neil), Darla (Mike), and Johnell (Al); grandfather to John (Jenny), Sara (Tyler), Emily, Kelly (Roger), Patty (Rob), Jennifer (Jason), Kevin (Aleshia), and JR.

He was great-grandfather to Edison, Adriana, Jack, Bailey, Kyle and Kassie, Logan, Lauryn, Chloe.

He was preceded in death by grandson Richard.

The circle of life will continue on with the new arrival of great grandson Cruz in January and another baby in June.

Mr. Overgaauw came from a large family of 13 brothers and sisters. He was a proud Teamster Truck Driver for 41 years . His favorite pastimes were riding his golf cart and singing karaoke.

Funeral arrangements were under direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes, Texas.

Willis Overgaauw, 75, died Monday, March 2, 2009 in Upland, Calif.

Graveside service was held on Saturday, March 7 at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, Calif., with funeral services that same day at The Bridge Church in Chino, Calif.

Pallbearers were Adrienne Bouwman, Michael Overgaauw, Derek Overgaauw, Zachary Overgaauw, Jaron Bouwman, Marlo Overgaauw, and Gary Overgaauw.
Honorary pallbearers were Al Bosch, Terry Myers, Willie Knevelbaard, Dave Van Leeuwen, Ray Robinson, Ronald Schloss, Earl Vander Schaaf.

Willis (Willie) Overaauw was born August 11, 1933 in Woodstock to Marinus and Adrianna Overgaauw. His early childhood years were spent on a farm in Minnesota.
He met his wife of 50 years, Johanna Fikse, after moving to California. They were married on May 9, 1958. They lived in Artesia, Calif., for five years and moved to Ontario to begin a ready mix concrete business. He was the owner of Mission Ready Mix, Inc.

He was a member of The Bridge Church.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna; daughter Joreen Bouwman and son, Gregory Overgaauw, Ontario; daughter-in-law Shelly Overgaauw Guerra, Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; brothers, John (Carol), Mercedes, Texas; Case (Joan), Lakewood, Calif.; Peter (Margie), Kent, Wash.; Adrian (Joann), St. Paul; sisters, Pearl Smith, Pipestone; Wilhelmina (Gilbert) Kuyper, Pipestone; Cornelia Zeinstra, Holland; Jacoba Boersma, Pipestone.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Mark; two sisters and two brothers.
